moms dress?
a few weeks ago my mother gave me her wedding dress because as a child i had always said i wanted to wear my moms dress... now that i'm older and really getting married i'm not sure i still want to. its a wonderful dress and shockingly it fits me really well it would only have to be longer to be perfect for me. so my question is how many people are wearing their moms dresses? thanks

Re: moms dress?
Wearing your mother's gown is not as popular as it once was, but, at least in my experience, it is enjoying a revival.
In my non-bride life, I am an alteration specialist and custom clothier. I have had several clients in the last few years bring mothers' and even grandmothers' gowns for alteration or re-design.
The decision is - do you want to wear the style as is, only altering for fit, or a re-design using the original fabric and embellishment?
Re-designs can convert to sleeveless, strapless, corset-back, etc.
And the final question is, how will your mom feel if you re-design?

Re: moms dress?
My mothers wedding dress is beatiful and i wouldnt want to change it. but in order to wear it i would have to get a lot of work done to it, re placing beads and making it longer and such. and i would also have to have a formal wedding and i'm not sure if thats fitting for my or my soon to be husband.... but i strong believe in fate it made me fall in love after swearing i wouldnt, and the dress fits wonderfully so i half think theres a reason fo that

Re: moms dress?
i think that it's nice that you'd wear your mom's wedding dress but it's not really necessary to do so.
