Should I be offended?...

My MOH & the Mother of the Groom don't want to give toasts at the wedding because they are afraid of public speaking. Am I wrong to assume that this situation is different and they should speak? Do I MAKE them, or should I accept that no one will speak but my parents and the best man?

Re: Should I be offended?...

It's kinda sad that they can't stand up in front of friends and family to say a few kind words. On the other hand though, more people fear public speaking than death. I would just give them as much support and encouragement as possible. Help them with their speech, help them practice, etc. If they still can't do it it's a shame but you can't really force them. Toast

It's disappointing, of course, but it might be very uncomfortable, not only for them but for you, if you try to force them. If you really want it to be from them and they were willing, maybe they could write the toast and you could have a more outgoing friend or relative say it, acknowledging it as being from your family? Best of luck!
