I have been trying to plan my wedding for the past couple months but havent had much luck. I have justed decied thought since my fiance is a firefighter and its a big role in our lives that I would make that our theme. I already have red as a wedding color for the bridesmaides dresses and there is red on my dress but not a lot. So if anyone has any ideas for invations, favors, reception, ceremony, please help. Re: Need Help Firefighter wedding!

A friend of mine was just married not long ago and her hubby is a LT with the Fire Dept here. I will look at her wedding pictures and see what ideas I can get for you. What I do remember off the top of my head is that she used the caution roll they use at fires to keep people out; well she used that to make some bows for the reception and the church. Also they used the fire trucks as the back ground for some of the wedding pictures. But I will see what other ideas I can get for you.

Re: Need Help Firefighter wedding!

I also found this....... Placecards. Find firefighter-related ornaments (hydrants, dalmations, Maltese Crosses) or buy Matchbox-style fire trucks. Wrap attractive copper or silver wire around the middle of the ornament, then bring up and form into a simple coil to create your own placecard holders. Charms. Sew or glue firefighter charms to your ringbearer pillow, candles, ribbons, guest book, cake serving set, bridal bag, and so on. Ringbearer. Borrow a friend's Dalmation and draft him into service. Or if you want to stick with the two-footed type, give him a pillow with a Maltese emblem (elegant) or one with totally funky dalmation spots (whimsical). Centerpieces. For your base, try the classic yellow and black rubber boot, filled with flowers, greenery, or a balloon bouquet. You'll want these shiny and new looking, and new firefighter boots aren't cheap, so see if you can borrow some for the occasion. take a look here: http://www.eyecatchingcreations.com/mystore/advanced_search_result.php?search_in_description=1&keywords=fire

Re: Need Help Firefighter wedding!

I am also doing a firefighter wedding. I am having so much fun with, I hope you do too!! Here are a few ideas to get you started... cut the cake with an axe www.acharmingplace.com has fire/rescue charms, use them on your accessories, favors, etc. firefighter candy molds and make your favors ebay has great deals on accessories, unity candles, garters, etc. just do a search for firefighter wedding. have your FH and groomsmen wear fire company uniforms instead of tuxes. If you are doing a dollar dance, make it a "fill the boot" dance, and use a fire boot for people to drop their dollar in Hope this gets you started. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more ideas, I am full of them!!

Re: Need Help Firefighter wedding!

We should start our own Topic Future Firefighter Wives. Both my FH and myself are career Firefighters in civilan world and in the Miltary we are doing the Firefighter/Patriotism Theme as well. Were doing so easy centerpieces with Red Roses for the Firefighters who died on Sept 11 th 2001 at the WTC 343, 60 white roses mixed in for the Police Officers that perished that day as well in vases in the center of the table. We had plastic casts done of our badges and made copies of them (the sell the stuff right at a craft store to DIY) and painted them to match. We going to tie them around the vases with believe it or not firefighter Shoe laces we found at www.roberts.com over the knot we have a maltese cross. Are tables are round and they have glass tops for the so we are going to put fake roses pedals scrattered on top of the table cloth them put the glass top on and we have a sheer piece of fabric to cover the glass top but still let the pedal be seen through it. We have been collect roses pedals for month because we are going to have 1 for every solider who has died since war begun in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are using the Fire Trucks as Limos its cheap FREE since were members and you won't loose any kids might have hard time getting them out of the truck though...lol But they are big and hold EVERYTHING we are using the Rescue Truck because its not as high to climb in with a dress on. We are having a outdoor ceramony with crossed Aerial Ladders with a Giant Flag hanging above us. If you live near where they hold Fire Conferences and you have a little time before your wedding consider going on the Flea Market day usually last day of conference and it costs like $5 for non-conference attendees to get in usually sometime free. You will be amazed at what you can buy at those things you'd definately find a figurine you can use as a cake topper or work into centerpieces. Walmart just got in some Fabric it looks like a tapestry is $2 a yard and has the FireMen's Prayer on it would be nice to hang either behind or in front of head table. Firemen's Prayer When I am called to duty, God Wherever flames may rage Give me strength to save a life Whatever be its age. Let me embrace a little child Before it is too late Or save an older person from The horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert And hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently To put the fire out. I want to fill my calling To give the best in me, To guard my friend and neighbor And protect their property. And, if, according to your will, I have to lose my life, Please bless, with your protecting hand, My family and my wife. For favors you could also buy clear cellaphane goodie bags like 25 for $1.99 and in scrapbooking section you can buy paper with a sticker back and then print the Firemen's Prayer on to the paper and then peel and stick on to the bags. You can also buy candy mold in firefighter designs and could put in a bunch of smaller candies and then do a bigger one. Molds at http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/candymolds/M-mens-military/M-mens-military.htm There are so many do it yourself projects for this theme invitations I made mine I bought them at a craft store blank under $5 for a box of 50. I bought a paper punch in the shape of fire truck which raised the area for a boarder then I took pictures of us in our gear and I faded it to look like a pencil drawing and made it big covers almost hole invitation as background then printed them out on my regualr printer. I used the punch and got it very hot and it melted right through the paper make a hole just down from the top to look like a firetruck. I took your basic solid fabric that is semi shiny was $1 a yard and printed our Names and Wedding date and a picture of a firetruck on it in strips (don't load it like regualr paper put it down into the print from above atleast on my type of printer). It worked great I cut them abit wider than my thumb place a piece of that iron on seem tape in back and rolled all the edges under. Looks just like I ordered custom printed ribbon which is expensive.

Re: Need Help Firefighter wedding!

Not to change the subject, I want to cut the cake with an axe but I cant find any reasonable axes. In fact the only one I've found was $100. Does anyone know of any websites?
