My Wedding Journal - Did I choose the right person to be my Maid of Honor?

Where do I begin....I am a San Antonio native who recently moved to Colorado Springs, CO with my fiance who is in the military. Everyone i know is back home including my best friend since middle school who will also be my maid of honor...I have tried to take care of as much as i can as far as trying to figure out exactly what I would want for my wedding which will take place in April of next year...and when i go to ask her advice or take a look at my wedding website, well what can i say...she's pretty much ignored it. What do I do and if she can't handle this then how do I tell her that i have changed my mind. Mary

Thats a hard one. Maybe you need to have a heart to heart with her. If shes been your friend since middle school you should be able to be candid with her. Say " I know I'm far away but your role in this wedding is important to me. I value your opinion as my best friend" Try to find out what is wrong. Is she having problems in hr life? You need to be honest with her. Speak up. You've got a year to go. You can work it out. :)

I have the same problem. I asked someone to be my maid of honor and then we had a falling out and I don't want her as my maid of honor anymore. How do you tell someone who still thinks they are included when they aren't, I don't want to hurt anyones feelings.

U know I am having the same problem with one of my brides maids. I cant get her to go and order her dress!!!!!!!!!! Soooooo, when she missed our last date, I had no choice but to go ahead and order the others if I want them to be here on time. Now Ive gotta tell her that shes out because she couldnt get in when I NEEDED HER! If ur wondering she is my best friend. Call ur girlfriend and tell her exactly how ur feeling, if shes a true friend shell either get it together or move out your way so you can keep on schedule.

Well, seems like we all have that problem. I asked my sister,actually she asked me to be my maid of honor, because she is my 'little sister' i said, sure! we live together, but she seems like she doesnt care nothing about the wedding, I fixed my invitations, she never helped. my wedding is only a month apart, and she doesnt have the dress yet, she said i will take care of the maids gifts... nothing yet, I felt really bad at the beggining, but my fiance says "nobody will care more about our wedding but us" so that made me feel better. I have that problem too. I really don't have any close friends so I picked my sister to be my maid of honor and my FH 2 sisters, my 2 ex step sisters and my FH cousins girlfriend. My sister is "away" at the moment but is writing to help as much as she can. That, I'm sad to say, is more than my brides maids are doing and they are physically here to help. I've had 3 dress shopping days (my dress) and only 3 showed up (1 on each occasion). I give them plenty of notice. My FH says either they are all the way in or all the way out. And coming from him that makes me feel better about firing any of the 5 because 2 of them are his sisters. I am really mad about it though because I did not include my little sister because she's at job corp and my cousin because she is in MI. I didn't think it would be fair for them to just show up doing no work while the BMs that are here did work. I guess i'm saying, I haven't done it yet but I would fire whoever isn't contributing.
