    Entry Requirements/Customs:
Due to the location of the territory, the United States Virgin Islands has a pre-clearance inspection process for all flights from the territory to destinations in Puerto Rico or the Continental United States. This process requires all passengers to present proof of citizenship to immigration to the satisfaction of the inspecting officer.

Proof of citizenship is accomplished by presenting one of the following:
    • A passport issued under competent authority
    • An Alien Registration Card (green card). (United States of America permanent residents only.)
    • A certified copy of a birth certificate with government issued photo identification. (Canadian and United States citizens only.)
    • Certificate of Naturalization, issued by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service.

If you are neither a citizen of the United States nor a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States you must present one of the following with your passport. Citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Pilot Program (VWPP) Green I-94W, Record of Departure, indicating date and status of entry into the United States – OR-

    Crewmembers
Valid I-95, Crewmember Landing Permit, processed within the last 90 days.

All other persons should obtain documentation from their local Immigration and Naturalization Service Office indicating their legal status in the United States.

When traveling to the United States Virgin Islands from outside the United States, the Immigration requirements are the same as other locations in the United States.

Due to the proximity of the surrounding foreign islands, there are some important reminders for travelers. They are as follows:

The United States Virgin Islands consist of three major islands, St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John. Though the British Virgin Islands share a similar name, they are under the jurisdiction of another country and, therefore, are a foreign location. Traveling to one of the United States Virgin Islands from one of the British Virgins will require reporting to the nearest designated Immigration Service office location (see INS office locations and services in the territory) for inspection.

All other islands, except Puerto Rico, are considered foreign locations. Immigration inspection will also be required.

    Currency:
Our currency is the U.S. dollar. Travelers’ checks and major credit cards are honored.

    Time:
The U.S. Virgin Islands is in the Atlantic Standard Time zone, one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time (except during Daylight Savings Time).

    Electricity:
Electric outlets on our islands take standard North American current, with a 120 volt/60 cycle.

    Climate:
With average temperatures ranging from 77º F in winter to 82º F with cooling tradewinds in the summer, the U.S. Virgin Islands is an ideal destination any time of the year. There is less than a 5 degree Fahrenheit difference in temperature from winter to summer. Warmer days are cooled by pleasant trade winds.
