OVERVIEW THINGS TO SEE AND DO
Nightlife: There are about 70 restaurants throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands offering local cuisine, seafood, conch, lobster and other specialties and Caribbean dishes as well as a selection of restaurants offering more Mediterranean, Italian, British and American dishes.

Shopping: In Providenciales there are three main shopping centers: Ports of Call; Market Place, and Central Square. All of these centers include a place to buy souvenirs as well as clothing, beach and sportswear. Resorts also offer boutiques for those in need of a little ‘retail therapy’ during their stay.

For arts and crafts, there are a number of places to visit in Providenciales and in the family islands. You should notice smaller art and craft outlets as you travel around the Islands. Innovative work can be found by artists who use the natural environment to create designer mirrors, lamps and other household as well as fashion items - try the Shell Shack in Grand Turk or Greensleeves in Central Square in Provo. Craft work, specifically the beautiful handmade straw hats, bags and baskets, can be purchased in Middle Caicos at the Middle Caicos Cooperative, in Bottle Creek in North Caicos or at Daphne's Native Gift Shop in South Caicos, as well as at outlets in Grand Turk and Providenciales. These items are highly regarded in the region and are of extremely high quality.

Nature/Sightseeing: Hike the Crossing Place Trails. A great way to explore the island is hiking with a local guide along the old coastal paths known as the Crossing Place Trails. Once used for trade, the islanders would walk to the end of the trail near Pine Barrel Landing and wade over to North Caicos when the tide was low, hence the name. Facing north-east and towards the prevailing winds and currents, the beaches along the trail collect large amounts of interesting flotsam and jetsam, including the occasional message in a bottle.

Sail the local sloops. The Turks and Caicos sailing boats have always been made by hand and cut from the local forests. This practice is still common in Middle Caicos where they make around two boats each year. The boats vary in size, the largest being about 28 feet. Join the boat builders in Middle Caicos for a day. They will tell you how they construct these boats and then take you sailing for a few hours around the bay.

Culture and History Tours. Enjoy a sightseeing tour by taxi around the historic and picturesque sites of Middle Caicos. Visit the flamingos at Village Pond, pass through the settlements of Bambarra and Lorimers and take a short walk to the Haulover plantation ruins and Sir Lorimer’s grave. Stop for lunch in Conch Bar and then relax and swim at the sensational Mudjin Harbour beach. Finish this day with a tour through the extensive Conch Bar caves.

Captivating sunsets, gentle breezes, friendly smiles and gracious hospitality, casual elegance and relaxed informality are just some of the reasons Modern Bride's readers named Anguilla one of the best honeymoon destinations in the world. Be it Anguilla, the Cayman Islands, or Turks & Caicos, the British West Indies will provide the perfect atmosphere to make your honeymoon the trip of a lifetime!

Take an afternoon beach stroll and leave only two sets of footprints on the stunningly white, exquisitely soft white sands. Bask in the sun, swim, snorkel, sail, scuba, or windsurf to your heart's content. Visit an art gallery and take home an original watercolor for a permanent memory of the most romantic time of your lives.

Savor outstanding gourmet cuisine, touched with Caribbean spices and flavors; enjoy fine wines in a host of delightful restaurants overlooking the sea. Sip a rum punch while taking in a magnificent sunset. Dance to the romantic and sensual sound of Caribbean music.

Enjoy the warmth of the sun, cooling ocean breezes, lazy beach days or invigorating daytime activities, evenings of dancing and camaraderie, or tranquil serenity, alone just the two of you.
