    Entry Requirements/Customs:
    U.S. , Canadian and U.K. nationals require proof of citizenship--a valid passport, original or certified birth certificate. U.S. residents and others should contact the nearest tourist office for entry requirements.

    All visitors to Antigua and Barbuda must have an onward or return ticket. Citizens of United States, United Kingdom and Canada citizens do not require a visa to enter Antigua and Barbuda and may travel on one of the following:
    • Valid Passport
    • Original Naturalization Certificate

    Persons visiting are permitted to stay as long as their business takes, provided that:
    • this is no longer than six months
    • they have an onward or return ticket
    • they have confirmation of accommodation
    • they can produce evidence of their ability to maintain themselves in Antigua and Barbuda

    Persons requiring a visa for Antigua and Barbuda:
    (Please confirm with the Permanent Mission to the United Nations New York)
    Documentation required when applying for a visa:
    1. Valid passport (with minimum life of six months)
    2. one completed application form (obtainable from the High Commission)
    3. confirmation of travel (return or onward ticket or letter confirming date of travel from travel agent)
    4. 2 x passport-size photograph
    5. fee of $30.00 or $35.00 (see below for details)

    Visa fees:
    Single Entry: $30.00 (for a single visit within three months of date of issue)
    Multiple Entry: $35.00 (for multiple visits within six months of date of issue)
    Fees should be in postal orders or an international money order made payable to "Mission f Antigua and Barbuda" (or cash when delivering in person). Please add an extra $2.00 for registered post if the passport is to be mailed.

    Processing period for the issue of a visa is normally two to five working days. Please contact the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda or email antigua@un.int for any further information on visa and entry requirements. A visa application form maybe downloaded by clicking here. The form has to be submitted by the applicant to the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda.

    The Consular Section is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

    Please note that the citizens of the following countries DO NOT REQUIRE a visa for entry into Antigua and Barbuda:

    European Community: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland (Republic of), Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

    These Commonwealth Countries: Australia, Botswana, Barbados, Bahamas, Canada, Brunei Darussalam, Belize, Fiji, Cyprus, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Kiribati, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Maldives, Malta, Nauru (special member), New Zealand, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa (Western), St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, South Africa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Tanzania, Tonga, Swaziland, Tuvalu (special member), Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom Overseas Territories, Vanuatu, United Kingdom, Zambia, Zimbabwe

    Other Countries (Non-European and Non-Commonwealth Countries): which DO NOT REQUIRE A VISA for entry into Antigua and Barbuda: Albania, Argentina, Armenia (Republic of), Azerbaijan (Republic of), Belarus (Republic of), Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Estonia (Republic of), Georgia (Republic of), Hungary, Japan, Kazakhstan (Republic of), Korea (South), Kyrgyzstan (Republic of), Liechtenstein, Lithuania (Republic of), Malta, Mexico, Moldova (Republic of), Monaco, Norway and Colonies, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovenia, South Korea, Suriname, Switzerland, Tajikistan (Republic of), Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan (Republic of), Venezuela

    All other countries not listed require a visa for entry.

    Currency:
    Official currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar which is fixed to the US dollar. Recent exchange rate was US$1.00 = EC$2.65. US currency, travelers checks and major credit cards are welcome everywhere.

    Banks:
    Antigua and Barbuda Development Bank, Antigua and Barbuda Investment, Bank Antigua Commercial Bank, Bank of Antigua, Bank of Nova Scotia, Barclays Bank PLC, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Caribbean Corporation Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Swiss American National Bank of Antigua. Banking hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 1:00pm and again from 3:00pm to 5:00pm; Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm, and 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

    Time:
    Atlantic Standard Time, one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time and the same as Eastern Daylight Time. GMT -4.

    Health:
    There are several general practitioners and specialists on the island, a hospital and a private clinic. No vaccinations are required unless the visitor is arriving from an endemic area. Recompression chambers are available by air ambulance at nearby Saba and in St. Thomas. Pharmaceutical services are widely available.

    Electricity:
    Part of the island is 110 volts, the remainder is 220 volts. Most hotels have both voltages available.

    Climate:
    Temperatures generally range from the mid-seventies in the winter to the mid-eighties in the summer. Annual rainfall averages only 45 inches, making it the sunniest of the Eastern Caribbean Islands, and the northeast trade winds are nearly constant, flagging only in September. Low humidity year-round.
