    OVERVIEW

During your vacation here on Hawaii's Big Island, you'll find yourself - renewed, refreshed, amazed, informed and deeply touched - by abundant, spectacular and unspoiled nature, by the warmth of an authentic Aloha spirit uniquely nourished by our contact with this living land (itself constantly in rebirth) - and by the sheer variety of all there is to see, to do and to feel. Hawaii's Big Island is famous as a magnet for the peoples of the world. When you feel the presence of this special place, you'll find out why - and you'll redefine your expectations of the word "vacation." You can begin your adventure right now! Dive into our site: you'll soon be "magnetized" yourself!

On Hawaii's Big Island, natural wonders abound. Hiking, cycling or riding horseback - on your own or with a guide - are wonderful ways to immerse yourself in our Island's amazingly varied eco-systems. Going just about anywhere presents spectacular scenic vistas. Laze the afternoon away on some of the world's most pristine white, black and green sand beaches. Snorkel in an ocean of total clarity. Put your face to the breeze on a charter sail.

Explore the ocean depths in a submarine. Experience the graceful beauty of a breaching whale on a whale-watch tour, or search for the elusive "grander" while enjoying some of the world's best deep-sea fishing. Witness the birth of new land in constant creation by Kilauea Volcano or explore the mysteries of outer space, as you reach up and touch the heavens atop Mauna Kea. Tee off on some of the world's most legendary golf courses. Whatever your inclination, you'll find it here.

On Hawaii's Big Island, the Polynesian culture of ancient Hawaii has welcomed and absorbed myriad art and traditions from Asia and Europe, creating a unique and colorful mix. Dance the hula and enjoy succulent Island fare at an authentic luau. Upcountry, discover the uniquely blended Hawaiian, Portuguese and Mexican cultures - still alive and well among Hawaii's Paniolos (cowboys) on the Big Island's giant ranches. Savor this succulent culture mix in every way - through exotic cuisine, crafts and fine arts capturing the limitless horizons and exotic hues of Hawaii's Big Island. In all this variety you'll find abundant opportunities for restoration, pampering and healing - of your body and your spirit. Welcome to diversity, welcome to our Special Island!

By Air. Hawaii's Big Island is the largest of six major islands in the Hawaiian chain. Due to our size, we have two international airports - one on the East side of the island in Hilo and the other on the West side in Kona. You'll find both airports slower-paced, relaxed and uniquely tropical. Convenient, direct flights into Kona allow you to begin your stay in paradise sooner and if you're coming from overseas, you'll usually save time getting through customs as well.

By Sea. More and more visitors are traveling to the Big Island by sea, enjoying a luxurious and fun ocean cruise as part of their adventure. Two ports of call offer exciting opportunities to sample the Island's amazing variety of climates, natural wonders and myriad of activities.
